Metered Electricity

We are currently transitioning for 2026 season and electricity will no longer be automatically included in our pitch fees. This has enabled us to reduce our pitch fees, and have a charge for electric on a fairer basis closer to the actual amount used, rather than an assumed amount.

Electric credits can be purchased on arrival.

Your electric questions answered

What is the unit rate of electricity?

Our unit cost varies regularly, therefore we unable to give an exact answer before arrival.

However, our cost normally hovers around 30p per unit. The exact price will be displayed in our reception at the time of check in.

Please note: The rate of electricity we will be charging will be our cost price. No profit margin will be applied.

Can I check / monitor how much credit is on the meter?

Yes, if you have a smart phone you can check how much credit is on the meter using the QR code.

What if I do not need electric hook up?

If you do not need electric hook up thats no problem, you can still book a pitch with the option of electric and just dont hook up.

How can I add extra electric credits?

Extra electric credits can be purchased at reception between 8:00 and 19:00 or later on nights that the bar is open.

Can I buy electric credits out of office hours?

The reception is CLOSED between 19:00 and 8:00.

The sale of electric credits outwith these hours is at the discretion of the duty warden, e.g it will not be possible to buy electric at 3am!

There will be an administration charge of £10 for purchases outside of normal working hours.

Please remember to check your meter before 19:00

Can I purchase enough credits to charge my EV?

No, the supply to the pitches is not designed for the continuous very heavy draw of an EV charger.

We have a dedicated EV charger at reception.

I am a heavy electric user, is there a limit on how much electric I can purchase?

Yes, to prevent overloads on our system, we have set a daily maximum consumption limit of £10

This is enough to run a 2kw heater set to maximum for nearly 17hrs.

Please note:  Unused electric credits credits cannot be refunded once issued.

What amperage is the EHU?

For 2026 all pitches will have a metered 10amp hook up. This will give a 2.3kw supply.

What can you run on a 10amp supply?

A 10 amp supply will allow the use of electric items up to 2.3kw. This is sufficient for all camping applications, although some control panels may need to be adjusted (EL1 setting or 2Kw setting depending on brand)

Using household items such as 3kw kettles, hair dryers, fan heaters, or a combination of items may cause the electric to trip out.

For example; you may be able to use a 2000watt kettle, but if you turn on a 2000watt fan heater at the same time this is 4kw and will overload the trip.

As a rough guide on cost, a 2kw heater, set to maximum, will use about 60p per hour.

I purchased £3 of electric but only used £2, will I get a refund?

Sorry, issuing refunds is not possible.

Any unused electric will be left on the meter as a buffer for the next customer.

I have a 2kw heater, how much will it cost to run?

A 2kw heater will cost about 60p per hour to run.

I booked before 4th February 2026, and paid for electric, has there been a change to the system?

Yes, bookings paced during 2025 have had £3 per night electric added to the booking.

For a short while were testing a system where electric credits could be purchased online.

However, we found some technical issues with this, thefore we have moved to a system where electric credits can be purchased when checking in.
